Spring Bank Holiday Monday 31st May 2010
The show was a great success!
This is due to the hard
work of the committee over the last year, the helpers on the day,
and the thousands of visitors, sponsors, subscribers, exhibitors and trade stand holders
who have supported us, some for many years.

THANK YOU ALL *

Free all-day transport from the New Showground was arranged to shuttle visitors

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

The Society has
recently been fortunate enough to be awarded a grant from the Big
Lottery Fund, for the construction of a main sewer connection to the
showfield, which will enable us to provide toilet facilities on the
showground. Work on this is shortly to commence, bringing us
a step nearer to our aim of providing a quality showfield in the
area, enabling other community groups and societies to use it for a
wide variety of events.

County
Councillor Ciaran Wells awarded us grant funding through the Lancashire
County Council Local Member Grants Scheme, enabling us to buy two
marquees and tables.

In
2010, for the first time, we held a sheepdog
trial on the lines of 'One Man and his Dog'.
Who won?
Look on the 'Results' page.
Every year we try to book new events and to invite the
return of the most popular regular displays.
We are
always interested in new displays and demonstrations for the
main arena
and invite any groups who would like to attend to contact
the display managers:

Hannah Hamer: Tel :

The
society
continues
to promote the
traditional sights, produce and crafts of Lancashire,
particularly from Great Harwood and the surrounding areas.
We
are now looking forward to including more of the local
community - groups, schools and individuals - in this aim
and invite you to use the links to browse our
pages and discover what we have to offer.
By
having an advertising banner at our shows,
sponsoring an event, or becoming a subscriber, you
can help to ensure the continuation of a tradition
which is slowly but surely dying out in most urban
and many rural areas.
|
We would like to share our success
with other societies, groups or individuals in
Hyndburn and other local areas, so are offering
the use of the New Showground for a limited number
of events each year.
Interested parties are asked to contact the
Secretary, Miss Rona Westwell: 01254 678411
