 Dogs

The GHAS holds an Open Show of approximately 150 classes, for
Kennel Club registered dogs and a Companion Show, open to all
pedigree or non-pedigree dogs

The Open Show

usually offers classes for around 35 different breeds, as well as variety classes, open to more than one breed.

The show is not judged on the group system, and usually has over a dozen judges.

We are also one of the few shows still offering prize money for main winners. In 2010 the Dog Section was sponsored by Cobbydog, which enabled us to give special prizes in most of the classes.

The Companion show

is open to all dogs over the age of 6 months, pedigree and non-pedigree, crossbreeds and mongrels.

Fun classes this year included:   Rescue, Over 7 yrs, Waggiest Tail, Dog most like its owner,  Most appealing eyes, Best ears, Best condition, Best long- and short-haired, Best 6 legs, and lots of others.

With this type of show, all proceeds are donated to one or more local charities.

In 2010

£122.75 was donated to the Lancashire Air Ambulance

£95.00 was donated to Guide Dogs for the Blind
